DPI and PPI

- PPI stands for " Pixels per inch" used for printing not video display
- An image that is 800x600 pixels printed in PPI will have a setting of 100 PPI and the print will be 8x6 inches
- Most common PPI setting is 240 and is "high quality"
- 320 is the highest PPI setting you really need
- Anything below 180 PPI you can notice a quality drop
- does not control print quality, but does control font size

- DPI is "Dots per inch" and is a property OF A PRINTER not a digital image
-
it measures how finely spaced droplets of in can be printed
- changing the DPI will NOT change the size of the font
- however it does control print quality

- Both PPI and DPI mean nothing when displaying a digital image on your monitor, the only thing that determines the
sixe is pixel count adn aspect ratio.
- To control how large an image appears on a monitor when veiwing images on the web is to change the pixel count
